Casablanca – National Police Judicial Brigade officers, acting on precise information from the General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance (DGST), foiled an attempted trafficking late Tuesday, September 22, according to the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN).
Officers arrested the suspect while he tried to flee in a rural area on the outskirts of El Jadida during an international drug trafficking operation. He used a utility vehicle loaded with 118 packages of cannabis resin, with a total weight of 4 tons and 631 kilograms.
The operation involved coordination with the Royal Gendarmerie. Security forces deployed significant human and logistical resources, along with sniffer dogs and drones to search and sweep the area.
Authorities placed the suspect in police custody as part of a judicial investigation supervised by the competent public prosecutor. Investigators will work to identify any further links to the criminal activity and arrest other people involved in the operation.
The seizure forms part of ongoing operations by the National Security and Territorial Surveillance services to combat international networks involved in trafficking narcotics and psychotropic substances.
Authorities have not disclosed further details about the suspected network or the intended destination of the seized shipment.
