Agadir – The judicial police of the Tangier Prefectural Security Directorate arrested a 27-year-old French national of Algerian origin on Saturday, October 3, under an international arrest warrant issued by French judicial authorities over suspected intentional homicide.
The suspect was arrested in Tangier after a security database check revealed that he was wanted internationally under a Red Notice issued by the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) at the request of the National Central Bureau in Paris. He is suspected of involvement in a murder case.
According to preliminary investigation findings, the suspect was allegedly part of a group of individuals who carried out a murder using a firearm in a public street on the outskirts of Paris, France, in July 2024.
The suspect has been placed under extradition procedures in accordance with instructions from the competent public prosecutor’s office. Meanwhile, the National Central Bureau of Interpol in Rabat, which operates under Morocco’s General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), has been tasked with notifying its French counterpart of the arrest as part of the extradition process.
The arrest reflects Moroccan security services’ efforts to strengthen international security cooperation, particularly in tracking down and arresting individuals wanted internationally in connection with transnational crime.
