Rabat – Barcelona welcomed back its international players to training on Thursday and Friday as the club prepared to resume its La Liga campaign against Getafe.
The club’s Spanish internationals, England forward Anthony Jordan, and Croatian goalkeeper Dominik Livakovic, all attended the training sessions.
Meanwhile, Barcelona conducted medical tests on Brazilian winger Raphinha, who experienced swelling in his right thigh after his substitution at halftime, during Brazil’s 4-2 victory over Australia on September 29.
The tests confirmed that the 29-year-old had not sustained a muscle injury. However, head coach Hansi Flick confirmed that the winger would miss Barcelona’s next two matches.
“Raphinha will miss Barcelona’s next two matches but has not sustained a big injury”, Flick said during Friday’s pre-match press conference.
Raphinha missed group training on both Thursday and Friday. According to reports, he completed individual training before leaving the pitch as the team’s group session began.
As things stand, Barca are unwilling to take any risks to avoid any complications regarding the player’s swelling, especially ahead of some big fixtures awaiting the team later this month.
“It’s something we have to take care of because last season he had three injuries there. He won’t be eligible tomorrow nor in Istanbul either.” Flick added.
Raphinha’s injury is the third consecutive international camp in which he has sustained a physical issue.
Barcelona, however, received positive news as goalkeeper Juan Garcia returned to training and confirmed his readiness for the Getafe match.
