Fez — Moroccan journalist and documentary filmmaker Youssef Jajili is taking his investigation into Sudan’s war to another international audience.

His 26-minute documentary “The Invisible Weapon” has been officially selected for the 2026 Stockholm City Film Festival, extending the film’s international journey after its recent presentation in Washington, D.C.

The distinction is an official festival selection rather than an award or nomination. The Stockholm City Film Festival runs monthly competitions alongside its annual program, with categories dedicated to feature and short documentaries, among other formats.

“The Invisible Weapon” examines the alleged use of chemical weapons during Sudan’s ongoing war between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces.

From Sudan to Washington and Stockholm

Jajili presented the documentary at the National Press Club in Washington on September 24, where the screening was followed by a discussion involving journalists and specialists working on Sudan, displacement, and chemical supply chains.

Morocco World News (MWN) previously covered the Washington screening, detailing how the film combines testimony from Sudanese civilians with medical accounts, open-source research, and information on chemical supply networks.

The documentary also addresses abuses attributed to the Rapid Support Forces, keeping civilians and the broader consequences of Sudan’s conflict at the center of the story.

US Senator Chris Van Hollen appears in the film and calls for an independent investigation into allegations of chemical weapons use and accountability for atrocities committed against civilians.

For Jajili, “The Invisible Weapon” is his first documentary as both director and producer.

The Moroccan journalist, who is based in the United States, has described the project as an extension of his investigative work through a different medium.

The National Press Club screening presented the film to an audience of journalists, policymakers, diplomats, and humanitarian specialists before its latest step onto the festival circuit.

Its selection in Stockholm now gives the investigation another platform outside Washington, bringing Sudanese civilian testimony into an international film setting.
