Agadir – Royal Air Maroc has selected French technology group Thales to digitalize its flight operations under a five-year agreement, equipping pilots across its fleet with electronic flight management tools as the airline pursues an expansion plan targeting 200 aircraft by 2037.
In a statement, Thales said it would provide the national carrier with AvioBook Flight, an electronic flight bag (EFB) solution developed by AvioBook, a Thales Group company.
“We are proud to provide Royal Air Maroc with our market-leading software solutions that align with the airline’s ambitious digitalization and expansion plans as they grow their fleet to 200 aircraft by 2037. We look forward to contributing to the airline’s evolution, positioning high technology at the heart of its development,” said Frédéric Dru, CEO AvioBook, a Thales Group Company.
The software is designed to improve operational efficiency, support fuel optimization, and streamline workflows between pilots and ground staff before, during, and after flights.
According to Thales, the platform also aims to strengthen flight safety, support regulatory compliance, and reduce aircraft turnaround times. Its integration with back-office systems is intended to help airlines coordinate flight operations more efficiently.
The company said AvioBook has implemented its solutions across 70 airlines worldwide, drawing on more than a decade of experience in aviation software development.

Thales’ CEO in Morocco, Yan Levy, said the agreement reflects the group’s commitment to supporting Morocco’s aviation ambitions through digital solutions designed to strengthen competitiveness, operational efficiency, and sustainability.
“As Royal Air Maroc pursues its fleet expansion and strengthens its role as a leading carrier, we are proud to contribute with scalable digital solutions that enhance competitiveness, operational excellence and sustainability,” he said.
“Through innovation and local engagement, Thales remains fully aligned with Morocco’s vision for a modern, resilient and globally connected aviation sector,” Levy added.
The deal also marks a new stage in the long-standing relationship between Thales and Royal Air Maroc, which includes cooperation in in-flight entertainment, aircraft maintenance, and cybersecurity.
Royal Air Maroc’s fleet expansion is part of its broader development strategy as Morocco seeks to strengthen its position as an international aviation hub. The adoption of digital flight management tools adds another element to the airline’s efforts to modernize its operations and prepare for a larger fleet.
