Casablanca – A Moroccan influencer has been sentenced to five years and six months in prison for his role in the robbery of a diamond-encrusted luxury watch worth around £140,000 (MAD 1.82 million) in London, according to the Metropolitan Police.
The 30-year-old man, identified as A.E.H., was sentenced at Southwark Crown Court on October 16, alongside two other defendants, following the robbery in Mayfair earlier this year.
The incident took place shortly before midnight on January 28, outside the Amazónico restaurant in Berkeley Square. The victim, a Romanian fashion designer identified as C.B., had been dining with his assistant and a friend before returning to his car.
Three men approached him, forced him against railings and took his Richard Mille watch. One of them used a sharp object to cut the watch strap, injuring him in the process.
C.B. later told the court that he feared for his life, particularly because he had undergone heart surgery and had stents fitted. He also said the watch held sentimental value, as it had been given to him by a friend who had since died. The watch has not been recovered.
The other defendants, identified as Y.D., 34, and A.E., 22, received sentences of five years and nine months and three years and six months, respectively, according to police.
Investigators arrested Y.D. in Slough on January 29, a day after the robbery. Police later used communications data and cell-site analysis to identify an address linked to A.E.H. and A.E. Both men were arrested on March 5.
During the trial, A.E.H. denied taking part in the robbery. He told the court that he had been sitting in a car watching TikTok videos when he heard an argument between the other men. He said he ran after seeing them run and claimed that Y.D. had threatened to harm his children if he reported the incident to police.
A.E.H. and A.E. were found guilty by a jury in September. Y.D. had pleaded guilty before the trial.
The Metropolitan Police said the investigation led to the conviction of all three men. However, the stolen watch remains missing.
