Marrakech – Morocco’s Justice and Development Party (PJD) has strongly condemned the “brutal massacre” committed by “the Zionist Nazi army” against Palestinian civilians during dawn Muslim prayers on Saturday, August 10, at Al-Taba’een school in Gaza’s Al-Daraj neighborhood.
The party called on Morocco and other Arab and Islamic countries to immediately sever all relations and cancel agreements with what it termed the “occupying and brutal entity.”
In a statement, the PJD said the attack, which killed at least 100 displaced Palestinians sheltering at the school according to Gaza officials, demonstrated Israel’s “systematic extermination” of Palestinians to expel them from their land.
The party denounced the “unprecedented Arab and Islamic silence and complicity” and “unethical absolute alignment” of Western countries with Israel’s “exposed false narrative” in the face of repeated massacres of civilians.
“Even if a group of Arab countries, including our own, signed agreements with this Zionist entity one day in special and exceptional circumstances, today, in the face of these atrocities, brutal crimes and genocide that have exceeded all descriptions and limits committed by the Zionist enemy against the unarmed brotherly Palestinian people, we feel guilty and ashamed,” the statement said.
The party further said the time had come to reverse these agreements as Israel carries out “killing and ethnic cleansing campaigns,” especially after Israeli officials rejected any Palestinian state and the Knesset passed a resolution formalizing this rejection in “a blatant defiance” of all UN resolutions and international humanitarian laws.
The PJD urged Morocco and concerned Arab and Islamic states to immediately sever ties, saying its position comes after “our patience has run out and our ability to endure has expired.”
The party also said it was addressing Arab and Muslim leaders with sincerity to do anything to stop the brutal aggression.
In defense of its actions, Israel claimed the school was used by Hamas militants, which Hamas denied.
The attack drew widespread regional and international condemnation.
Egypt, a mediator, said it showed Israel lacked genuine intent to end the war. Qatar strongly condemned “the Israeli occupation’s bombing of a school sheltering displaced people,” calling it a “horrific massacre and brutal crime” that infringed on international humanitarian law.
Saudi Arabia emphasized the “urgent need to halt the massacres in the Gaza Strip,” and condemned the international community’s inaction in holding Israel accountable.
The US said it was deeply concerned and underscored the urgency of a ceasefire. This comes after the Biden administration sent an additional $3.5 billion to Israel for further weapon procurement.
The UN said 477 out of 564 Gaza schools had been hit or damaged in the Israeli offensive that began last October, killing at least 39,800 Palestinians, with many more presumed dead missing under the rubble.
Israel faces genocide accusations at the International Court of Justice over its repeated massacres on Gaza.
