Rabat – Moroccan young football player Hamza Igamane is hoping to join Morocco’s national football team – a squad that he says “every Moroccan” dreams of representing.

“In Morocco, there are many talented players, so competition is fierce. Every Moroccan dreams of representing their curry,” he said in an interview with French football outlet Onze Mondial.

Igamane acknowledged that to be selected, a football player “must be excellent.”

“I do think about the national team,” he added, “but I have time to work and prove myself to the coach.”

Onze Mondial’s reports are full of praise for the 22-year-old striker. The sports-focused news outlet recalled his spectacular performances with the Rangers, where he is “quietly making a name for himself” in the Scottish championship.

“Six months after joining Rangers, the Moroccan is scoring goals with ease, awaiting a call-up from national team coach Walid Regragui,” the news outlet said.

When asked whether he is to be called up by the Moroccan coach, Igamane said that it is up to Regragui to decide.

“I haven’t had official contact with the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF). I’m focused on my club work, and I still need to prove myself to gain Walid Regragui’s trust,” he added.

Playing for the Rangers club, Igamane made four appearances, scored four goals, and offered one assist this season.

Igamane has also performed for FAR Rabat, where he made 58 appearances and scored 16 goals in addition to eight assists.
