Rabat – The Moroccan judo team has been eliminated from the Paris 2024 Olympic Games after losing both of their opening matches on Sunday, July 28, 2024.
Moroccan athletes Abdelrahman Bousheita and Soumaya Iraoui faced tough competition, resulting in their early exit from the games.
In the women’s judo competition, Iraoui Soumiya, ranked 15th globally, competed against Cypriot judoka Sonya Asvesta, who is ranked 28th.
Iraoui, wearing the white gi, was unable to secure a victory, as Asvesta emerged victorious in their Round of 16 match in the under 52 kg weight class.
In the men’s judo event, Boushita Abderrahmane also faced a challenging opponent in the form of Israeli judoka Baruch Shmailov.
Competing in the under 66 kg category, Bousheita was unable to advance past the Round of 16, marking a disappointing day for the Moroccan judo team.
