Rabat – The Renault Group factory in Tangier has started the production of Dacia Jogger, the first hybrid vehicle manufactured in Morocco.

Morocco’s Minister of Industry Ryad Mezzour expressed satisfaction with the announcement, noting that this reflects the strong partnership between the North African country and the Renault Group.

“I was pleased to participate yesterday in Tangier in the launch ceremony for the production of the Dacia JOGGER, the first hybrid car bearing the ‘Made in Morocco’ label, by the Renault Morocco Group,” Mezzour wrote today on X, formerly Twitter.

Pre-orders of the vehicles will begin today on Dacia’s official website, with availability starting from September 20.

The company is set to offer the new automobile at a starting price of MAD 190,900 ($19,470).

Denis Le Vot, CEO of Dacia, celebrated the start of the Dacia Jogger production, proudly stating that the Tangier plant now welcomes a new member to the family.

“This versatile and affordable family vehicle embodies Dacia’s success story in Europe,” Le Vot said.

Thierry Charvet, Director of Industry and Quality at Renault Group, echoed the same sentiment, recalling Morocco’s strength in the sector.

“Morocco is a cornerstone of the Group’s industrial strategy,” Charvet said, noting that the Tangier plant is fully committed to transforming the company’s industrial system.

The Renault Group announced an exceptional financial performance for the year 2023.

The group’s turnover saw a remarkable 13.1% growth reaching €52.4 billion, which benefited from an increase of 17.9% at constant exchange rates compared to the previous year.

This performance is supported by a significant improvement in the operating margin, which reached a record level of €4.1 billion, as well as by an Automotive operating margin estimated at €3.1 billion.

The group’s net profit for its part jumped to €2.3 billion, marking an increase of €3 billion compared to 2022, while the net financial position of automobiles reached historic levels of €3.7 billion, demonstrating the increased financial strength of the group.

Dacia has been solidifying its position as the leading automotive brand in Morocco, recording an impressive 25% share of the country’s passenger vehicle market.
