Rabat – Dacia has solidified its position as the leading automobile brand in Morocco, capturing an impressive 26% share of the country’s passenger vehicle (PV) market.

According to recent data from the Association of Vehicle Importers in Morocco (AIVAM), the brand coincides with a steady overall increase in new car sales.

A total of 82,286 new cars were sold in Morocco last month, representing a modest 1.06% increase compared to the same period last year, AIVAM’s data indicates.

Dacia’s 19,732 new registrations since the start of the year have set it far ahead of its competitors.

Renault trails in second place with 11,657 units sold, translating to a 15% market share, followed by Hyundai with 5,933 units and an 8% share.

The PV segment overall saw a slight dip in new registrations, falling by 0.24% to 74,048 units.

Meanwhile, the light commercial vehicle (LCV) segment exhibited robust growth, with sales climbing by 14% to 8,238 units.

Renault led the LCV market, selling 2,040 units for a 24% share, followed by Ford with 1,138 units at 13% and DFSK with 963 units at 11%.

Audi emerged as the top brand in the luxury automobile segment, securing a 3% market share with over 2,250 cars sold in the first half of 2024. BMW and Mercedes-Benz followed, with market shares of 2% and 2% respectively.

The high-end brand Porsche also reported significant growth, selling 354 units since the beginning of 2024; this represented a 54% sales increase for the luxury brand compared to the end of May 2023. On the other hand, Jaguar saw a 15% decline in sales as it sold only 51 units.

June 2024 saw a slight overall decline in vehicle sales compared to the same month last year. Total sales for the month stood at 17,368 units, including 15,855 PVs and 1,513 LCVs, representing a marginal 0.15% decrease from June 2023.
