Rabat – The Spanish Football Federation is determined to prevent Brahim Diaz from choosing Morocco over Spain, with recent reports suggesting that the federation has reportedly called up the in-form Real Madrid star to join the training camp of the Spanish national team ahead of the upcoming international break.
According to a report on the Defensa Central website, journalist Monica Marchante broke the news of the new development in the Diaz dossier, noting that the Spanish federation was still planning to call up Diaz to Spain’s national team.
The news came just a few days after converging reports alleged that the head coach of Morocco, Walid Regragui, had summoned Diaz as part of the pre-selected squad that will take part in upcoming friendly games with the Atlas Lions.
Football-focused website Al Mountakhab reported the news on Monday, quoting a source that said Real Madrid “received a summon” from the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) regarding Diaz.
The invite required Diaz to join the national team in the upcoming training camp at the Mohammed VI Football Complex in Sale, near Rabat starting March 18.
The Atlas Lions will play their first friendly game on March 22 against Angola.
Moroccan news outlet Le360 reported the same news earlier this week, saying the FRMF had sent a pre-selection notice to the Real Madrid player.
Securing Diaz will mark remarkable news for the Atlas Lions, which have been keen to add another superstar to the squad ahead of landmark events like the 2026 World Cup and 2025 AFCON.
