Fez – Morocco’s General Directorate of Meteorology (DMN) issued on Monday, February 12, a bulletin expecting a rise in temperatures in the southern and central regions of the country.
According to SNRTNews, the DMN reported that starting from Monday at noon, the sky is expected to be sparsely cloudy in the far northwest with scattered drops, while the weather will be relatively clear in the rest of the Kingdom.
During the night, low clouds, misty masses and local fog are expected to form on the coasts, northern and central plains, as well as the northeastern region, while the sky will be partly cloudy in the High Atlas, and clear in the rest of the regions.
The DMN confirmed that temperatures are expected to continue to rise in the southern and central regions as well as the plains west of the Atlas on Tuesday, February 13.
The same source also noted the formation of foggy masses on the northern-central plains, the southern coasts, the northeastern regions and the Mediterranean front, while the sky is expected to be partly cloudy in the Atlas and the countryside.
Meanwhile, the DMN expects strong wind gusts throughout the country with sandy wind gusts in the south.
Maximum temperatures will range between 12 and 17 degrees Celsius in the Atlas highlands, the Rif, and the far northwest of the country.
Temperatures are expected to be between 16-25 degrees Celsius in the east, as well as the northern and central plains, and between 27-35 degrees Celsius in the Souss, the southeast of the country, and the southern regions.
Minimum temperatures will however vary between 5 and 9 degrees Celsius in the Atlas highlands, the Rif and the eastern high plateaus, and between 9-12 degrees in the Tadla plains, the northern coasts and plains, the phosphate and diamond plateaus, and the southeastern foothills.
This rise in temperatures comes after a “red-level” weather notice issued last week, forecasting strong wind gusts of 100 to 120 kilometers per hour, including local dust storms and snowfalls in many regions, between February 9 and 11.
