Rabat – Wednesday marked a meeting in Paris to outline Mohammed VI Polytechnic University’s (UM6P) involvement in contributing to Africa’s development.
The event was organized by UM6P France, offering a platform to explore the transitions underway globally, and particularly in Africa– including material, climatic, digital, and economic transitions.
The event highlighted the theme of the 4th Science Week, which will take place on February 12-18 in UM6P Benguerir.
The event will be dedicated to the exploration of material, agricultural, energy, climate, digital, robotic, economic, financial, societal, and biotechnological transitions, UM6P France General Director Fahd Benkirane said.
Emphasizing the university’s contribution to Africa’s transition, he said that the university is undertaking a major challenge by positioning itself as a key player in this area
Recalling Africa’s assets as a fertile ground for comprehensive solutions, he added that these tools are capable of addressing not only the continent’s challenges but also contributing to resolutions of global problems.
“This is the very essence of the founding of UM6P,” he said.
Saad Tazi, mission officer to UM6P’s president in Benguerir also emphasized the university’s commitment to extend beyond national borders, stressing that the campus aspires to play an “essential” role in shaping future generations of Moroccans and Africans.
He emphasized the importance of the upcoming Science Week, which will explore the plurality of ongoing transitions and resistance to different aspects, including fear of artificial intelligence and resistance to changing lifestyle habits.
The event will feature performances related to the theme of transitions and the world premier screening of a documentary film on the cloning revolution directed by explorer Luc Hardy.
UM6P has recently launched its first international branch, UM6P France, seeking to serve as a bridge between Morocco and Africa as well as France and Europe.
The campus offers training and support for researchers and innovative entrepreneurs interested in the development of the African continent.
