Rabat —  Morocco and Israel trade relations are witnessing momentum, as the UN trade database (UN COMTRADE) figures show that the North African country exported $141.55 million worth of goods to Israel during 2024.

While Moroccans have echoed calls to cut ties with Israel and end normalization amid the Israeli ongoing genocide on Gaza, official economic data of Morocco’s exports to Israel reveals a completely different reality moving in the opposite direction.

These numbers confirm that economic interests still override the Moroccan people’s principled positions and humanitarian solidarity. While Moroccan streets chant for an end to normalization in support of Palestine, Moroccan cargo shipments flowed smoothly into Israeli markets.

Textiles lead Morocco’s exports

The textile and clothing sector contributes the largest share to this trade relationship, totaling $76 million. Non-knitted and ready-made clothing exports alone reached $52.81 million, followed by knitted clothing worth $23.80 million.

The trade extends beyond textiles to include the food industry. Morocco exported sugar products and confectionery worth $34.41 million, as well as other food preparations.

The data indicate that Morocco’s basic products find their way to Israeli consumer tables, despite the suffocating blockade and deliberate starvation faced by Gaza residents.

Strategic sectors involved

The export list goes beyond simple consumer goods, revealing complex relationships that include sensitive and strategic sectors. Morocco’s automotive exports reached $11.43 million, electrical and electronic equipment $3.42 million, and inorganic chemicals exceeded $1 million.

Exports also included processed food products from vegetables, fruits, and nuts worth $3.95 million.

Other categories included electrical and electronic equipment, paper and paper materials, meat and fish preparations, footwear, inorganic chemical products, grains and dairy products, fresh fruits and nuts, and aircraft and space equipment.

The remaining imports spread across smaller sectors and various products.

The data exposes how economic interests in the county continue to drive policy decisions despite widespread public opposition, calling for cutting ties and ending normalization with Israel amid their war crimes in Gaza.
