Rabat – Morocco has witnessed over 10,400 public solidarity campaigns since the genocidal war launched by the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) in October 2023.
The Moroccan Committee for the Support of the Ummah’s Causes shared statistics in a new press release, showing that, since October 2023, a total of 9,820 sit-ins and 660 marches took place nationwide to condemn the Israeli genocidal war on Gaza.
The statement stressed that the campaign ranged from small sit-ins to large-scale national demonstrations, reflecting Moroccans’ support of the Palestinian cause.
The committee also renewed its appeals against normalization, as well as expressed its commitment to continue to strengthen boycott practices.
The Moroccan committee said that it also denounces the “positions of weak Arab and Muslim” countries in the face of the genocidal war, expressing support for the ‘steadfastness of Palestinians and their heroic resistance.”
The committee also renewed its rejection of Morocco’s ties with Israel, calling on the country and Arab and Muslim communities to “fulfil their historic duty in defending innocent lives.”
It also urged the international community and the UN to ensure their legal and moral responsibilities to protect Palestinians and prevent genocide and war crimes.
Morocco has been one of the many countries that hosted the largest demonstrations in solidarity with Gaza. Larger cities like Rabat, Tangier, Casablanca, and Tetouan have been hosting weekly protests to condemn IOF’s crimes and urge the government to cut bilateral ties with Israel.
The IOF continues to escalate tensions worldwide due to its hostile actions targeting the sovereignty of other countries, including Syria, Yemen, and, most recently, Qatar.
On Tuesday, Israel attacked Doha, claiming that the attack was aimed at Hamas leaders in the region.
The attack sparked international outrage with countries, including Qatar, describing the Israeli strike as “cowardly.”
Meanwhile, Israel continues its genocidal war, killing at least 34 Palestinians, including 26 in Gaza since this morning.
As of today, the number of people killed in Gaza since October 2023 has reached 64,656. There are 163,503 injured victims.
Many reports suggest the number of casualties is likely much higher as many bodies remain trapped under rubble.
