Rabat — Morocco’s leading business confederation and the national data protection authority have joined forces to help companies navigate the country’s privacy laws and strengthen their digital security practices.

The General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM) and the President of the National Commission for the Control of Personal Data Protection (CNDP) today signed a partnership agreement to promote data protection awareness and guide Moroccan businesses toward compliance with Law 09-08, the country’s personal data protection legislation.

Signed by the presidents of the two organizations, the institutions aim to “make data protection a pillar of competitiveness and digital trust for Moroccan companies,” according to a statement from CGEM.

Under the agreement, CGEM will join the CNDP’s “DATA-TIKA” program, which works to strengthen companies’ capabilities in data governance and security.

The program will create a dedicated CGEM-CNDP corridor — a regional support system designed specifically for CGEM member companies to simplify their path to regulatory compliance.

The partnership also includes awareness workshops that will teach businesses about responsible personal data practices. These sessions will help companies understand their obligations under Morocco’s data protection framework and implement appropriate safeguards.

CGEM officials said the partnership continues the confederation’s work to promote digital transformation that is “responsible, ethical, and secure.” They stressed that the initiative aligns with international best practices and Morocco’s national priorities around digital sovereignty.

The collaboration comes as businesses across Morocco face increasing pressure to protect customer and employee data in an increasingly digital economy.

The agreement provides member companies with direct access to expertise and resources from the country’s data protection authority, potentially lowering the barriers to compliance for small and medium-sized enterprises.
