Rabat – Morocco is strengthening its position as one of the top tourism destinations in Africa and the Middle East, according to the specialized magazine Travel and Tour World.
In an article titled “Morocco Shines in Global Tourism Rankings as a Leading Destination for 2025,” the magazine highlighted the country’s growing international recognition and strong performance in global rankings for 2025-2026.
The report noted that Morocco has achieved a new milestone by ranking 13th in the latest classification published by the UN World Tourism Organization. This ranking reflects the country’s continuous efforts to improve its tourism offerings, modernize infrastructure, and attract an increasing number of international visitors.
Travel and Tour World emphasized Morocco’s unique heritage, rich culture, and coastal tourism, all of which help diversify and enhance the visitor experience. The article added that the country’s remarkable achievements and significant progress in the tourism sector – driven by strong economic development – are evident in the global travel awards in recent years.
Recently in Brussels, Morocco was named “Destination of the Year” for the 2025 edition of the Travel Awards. The magazine said this recognition not only strengthens Morocco’s international image, but also highlights its ability to attract even more travelers in the coming years.
The publication also showcased several of Morocco’s top destinations: Marrakech ranked among The Independent’s “7 Best Winter Sun Holiday Destinations”; Fez, the spiritual and scientific capital; Rabat, “a capital on the rise”; and Taghazout, known as Morocco’s surfing paradise. The magazine stated that the country remains committed to sustainable tourism, ensuring benefits for local communities.
It concluded that government initiatives to improve infrastructure, promote responsible tourism, and highlight Morocco’s unique cultural identity continue to reinforce its position as a major global destination in the years ahead.
