Rabat – Morocco’s Director General of the National Security and Territorial Surveillance (DGSN-DGST), Abdellatif Hammouchi, traveled to Saudi Arabia this week with a senior security delegation.

His visit runs from February 8–12 at the invitation of Abdulaziz bin Mohammed Al-Howairini, Saudi Arabia’s Minister and Head of State Security, to take part in the third Global Defense Exhibition.

The event showcases the latest innovations in defense and security technology. It brings together experts from around the world to discuss future trends in global security and defense.

During his visit, Hammouchi and his team discussed ways to strengthen Moroccan-Saudi cooperation in security and intelligence. They held bilateral talks with senior Saudi security officials. The discussions focused on improving joint efforts, sharing technical assistance, and exploring new opportunities to work together across different areas of law enforcement and information sharing.

DGSN-DGST said the visit reflects Morocco’s commitment to innovation in security and to building strong partnerships with friendly countries. It also indicates a shared desire to address emerging security challenges through technology and collaboration.

Morocco and Saudi Arabia share long-standing friendly relations that span political, economic, and security areas. The two countries have regularly held joint meetings and signed agreements to deepen cooperation.

Rabat and Riyadh have strengthened judicial and security cooperation in recent years, as they have signed agreements on mutual legal assistance, extradition, and the transfer of sentenced individuals.

Saudi Arabia has also reaffirmed its support for Morocco’s territorial integrity and sovereignty over Western Sahara, and backed Rabat’s autonomy initiative as the basis for resolving the long-running dispute in the region.

The two nations also work closely in economic and political fields. Their joint committees have emphasized cooperation in trade, customs, environmental protection, and sustainable development. Officials on both sides have described the relationship as strong and distinguished.

Morocco and Saudi Arabia continue to build on this partnership through frequent high-level visits, shared initiatives, and agreements covering a wide range of strategic interests.
