Rabat — OCP Nutricrops has appointed Faris Derrij as its new chairman and CEO, replacing Youssef El Bari.
El Bari held the position from October 2024. According to converging reports, he now holds a new position within the OCP Group.
Derrij was appointed by OCP Nutricrops’ Board of Directors on Monday.
“Mr. Youssef El Bari led the General Management with commitment and agility,” reports quoted OCP Nutricrops as saying, paying a tribute to the former CEO for his role in the development of the OCP subsidiary.
Derrij formerly served as Managing Director of the SBU Mining within the OCP group.
His portfolio diversified responsibilities, with a multidisciplinary trajectory that the group says gives him a “360-degree vision of the company.”
The statement said the appointment is part of a logic of strategic continuity, with the board emphasizing that the new leadership will further boost the OCP Nutricrop’s position as a leading reference in the field of “fully customized plant nutrition and soil health solutions.”
The appointment comes as OCP Nutricorps is continuing its expansion plans.
Earlier this month, the Moroccan government approved the expansion of its subsidiaries in France and India.
OCP Nutricrops in France will be established starting off with a capital of €26 million.
“The new company will be tasked with coordinating marketing activities in Europe and developing specialized fertilization products tailored to the characteristics of European soils and crops,” the statement published in the official gazette reads.
The India subsidiary will be responsible for developing and marketing fertilization solutions adapted to local soil.
The government published decrees in the Official Bulletin, announcing the cabinet’s approval of the move.
The expansion is part of OCP’s strategy to reinforce its international position, particularly with OCP Nutricrops. The subsidiary specializes in the production and marketing of high-value added phosphate fertilizers.
