Rabat – The Moroccan desert of Merzouga, particularly the golden sands of Erg Chebbi in the “Eastern Morocco” region, has secured a spot in the top three of the world’s most beautiful tourist destinations. Renowned travel and tourism platform “Time Out” recognized the enchanting landscapes of Erg Chebbi, elevating Morocco’s tourism appeal to new heights.

The ranking, which highlights the beauty of the 30 most captivating tourist destinations across the globe, was meticulously compiled based on input from individuals who have personally explored these locations. Travelers shared their impressions and experiences, culminating in a vivid portrayal of these remarkable tourist attractions.

Taking the coveted first position is the Bay of Kotor in Montenegro, followed closely by Iceland. Securing the third spot, the Moroccan Erg Chebbi sands were hailed for their unparalleled beauty and unique offerings. Notably, this recognition affirms Morocco’s place as a possessor of some of the world’s most stunning desert landscapes.

Jeremy Flint, a well-known traveler who recently ventured into the heart of Erg Chebbi, attested to the area’s magnificence. He described the breathtaking spectacle of shifting golden sands, reaching towering heights of up to 300 meters. The awe-inspiring sand dunes stretch across an impressive 28 kilometers within the heart of the desert.

Flint, a contributor to the “Time Out” platform, recounted his personal experience of traversing the desert on camelback and spending a night beneath the stars alongside the region’s Amazigh people. His poignant description captures the essence of the desert’s allure, stating, “A day of rest within the sands of Erg Chebbi presents a magnificent sight and a unique experience.”

From witnessing mesmerizing sunrises and sunsets to engaging in activities like camel riding and desert camping, the region offers an array of experiences that pique visitors’ curiosity, particularly during the winter and spring seasons. The tranquility, serenity, and safety of the area also contribute significantly to its esteemed ranking.

The remarkable recognition of Merzouga’s Erg Chebbi sands solidifies Morocco’s place among the world’s most captivating tourist destinations. The local community’s genuine hospitality and cultural integration enhance the allure of the desert, ensuring that visitors have an immersive and unforgettable experience in this unparalleled corner of the world.
