Agadir – The Port of Casablanca handled 17 million tons of cargo during the first half of 2026, marking a 7% increase compared with the same period in 2025, according to the National Ports Agency (ANP).

The ANP said the growth accelerated in June, when the port processed 3,532,053 tons compared with 2,680,112 tonnes in June 2025, representing a 32% increase.

Imports accounted for 75% of total traffic, reaching 12,815,009 tons, while exports totaled 4,186,933 tons, or 25% of overall volume.

Compared with the first half of 2025, imports rose by 8%, while exports increased by 2%, underscoring the port’s role in supplying the national economy and supporting Moroccan export flows.

ANP explained that several key cargo segments recorded solid growth during the first half of the year, reflecting sustained demand across multiple sectors.

Cereal imports reached 3.3 million tons, an increase of 13% compared to the same period in 2025, while livestock feed traffic climbed 33% to 1.06 million tons.

Container traffic also maintained positive momentum, surpassing 762,557 TEUs, up 5% year-on-year. Meanwhile, roll-on/roll-off (Ro-Ro) traffic recorded the strongest performance, rising 35% to 93,824 units from 69,318 units a year earlier.

The agency said the results were achieved despite a particularly demanding operating environment, including extreme weather conditions, an unprecedented influx of strategic imports, and a maritime incident on February 25, when containers fell from a container ship after it had departed the port.

According to the ANP, the Port of Casablanca managed these challenges without disrupting trade flows or compromising the security of Morocco’s strategic supplies.

The agency said it implemented reinforced operational measures in coordination with authorities, concessionaires, and port operators, including permanent coordination of interventions, dynamic management of vessel calls, optimization of reception capacity, adaptation of operational organization, and controlled handling of the February maritime incident.
