Rabat – Co-Founder and CEO of startup Deepecho, Youssef Bouyakhf, is among the five finalists contenders for the Grand Prize At the 2023 Aviram Awards Competition taking place in Marrakech this year.
According to a report from wealth-oriented magazine Forbes, Bouyakhf is competing with five other entrepreneurs from North Africa and the Middle East for the grand prize of $500,000 in cash, as well as training from the distinguished business figure and Aviram Foundation Founder, Ziv Aviram, and promotional assistance from Forbes.
The runner-up will receive a cash prize of $100,000, while the third-place winner will receive a reward of $50,000. The winners will be selected based on the creative advancement of their solution and its meaningful impact on society.
The London-based Moroccan startup focuses on developing an AI-powered tool that aids ultrasound technicians with limited training in conducting sophisticated video diagnoses. This product has the capability to identify potential birth defects and enables early intervention in cases of premature birth.
Founded in 2020, Deepecho is offering next-generation potentially life-saving ultrasound technology. The basic premise of the technology is to reduce infant and maternal mortality due to mistakes in ultrasound diagnosis. The company says its goal is to use Machine Learning (ML) to democratize access to fetal ultrasound.
To win the prize, contestants who have made it to the final stage will have to present their proposals to a group of business leaders on May 16, 2023, in Marrakech, Morocco. The panel of judges consists of Ziv Aviram, Editor in Chief of Forbes magazine, Randall Lane, Cofounder & CEO of D14.AI Melda Akin, CEO of UM6P Ventures Yassine Laghzioui, and Managing Director of MITC Lamiae Benmakhlouf.
