Rabat – Moroccan authorities have arrested a Senegalese national in Ifrane who was wanted under an international arrest warrant issued by Senegal over alleged fraud linked to Hajj travel arrangements.
The General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) said on Monday, September 21, that police arrested the suspect as part of international security cooperation.
According to the DGSN, the suspect allegedly collected money from clients of a travel agency after promising to arrange their Hajj pilgrimage travel through fraudulent means.
Senegalese authorities had issued an international arrest warrant against the man in connection with the alleged fraud, which prompted cooperation between Moroccan and Senegalese security services.
The arrest in Ifrane reflects the role of international security channels in the pursuit of suspects wanted across borders.
The suspect is now subject to the legal procedures that apply to individuals sought under international arrest warrants.
Morocco has continued to strengthen security cooperation with international partners to address cross-border crime and facilitate the pursuit of individuals wanted by foreign authorities. Such cooperation includes the exchange of security information and coordination through international police channels.
The country’s security services maintain close cooperation with counterparts abroad in cases that involve transnational crime, including fraud, organized crime, terrorism, and other offenses that extend beyond national borders.
Through its international partnerships, Morocco has sought to strengthen coordination with security agencies across Africa and beyond, particularly in matters that require cross-border information sharing and law enforcement cooperation
