Rabat – The world is mourning the killing of at least 12 people in a new Houthi attack on Riyadh International Airport on Saturday, with the international community condemning the new assault.
The attack came amid an already escalated situation. Reports described Saturday’s assault as the deadliest in the Gulf country in more than a decade.
The world has reacted to the attack, including US President Donald Trump, who described the assault as “terrible.”
He said he would speak with Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman about the situation.
Trump also said his country is evaluating whether the US would join the war against the Houthis.
“We may. We’re gonna look at it,” he said.
The UN also condemned the attack, stating that the assault violates international law and calling for an immediate end to the crisis.
A group of other countries has also condemned the attack, expressing support for Saudi Arabia.
Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said attacks targeting civilians and vital infrastructure “are utterly unacceptable and pose a serious threat to regional peace and stability.”
Jordan echoed the remarks, with King Abdullah offering condolences to King Salman and the country’s Crown Prince and expressing support for Saudi Arabia, describing the attack as brutal.
Qatar and Egypt have both also condemned the attack.
The Qatari Foreign Ministry said the attack is a “serious violation of Saudi sovereignty and a direct threat to the security of the region, the safety of civilians, civil facilities, and air navigation.”
Egypt’s Foreign Ministry also expressed strong condemnation of the attack, denouncing what it described as a “flagrant violation of international law.”
Oman, Palestine, and Syria also joined the solidarity campaign with Saudi Arabia, describing the attack as a serious violation against civilians and vowing their full support for measures to tackle the crisis.
The international reaction also included India, Japan, Canada, and Malaysia, which all expressed concern, with statements echoing the view that the attack was intolerable, abhorrent, and unacceptable.
