Rabat – Morocco’s national team’s coach, Walid Regragui, decided to replace goalkeeper Yassine Bounou with Munir Mohand El Mohamedi El Kajoui in the last minutes leading up to Morocco’s game against Belgium.
Bounou left the field minutes after he appeared with the national team as they played the national anthem.
According to reports, Bounou’s premature departure from the game is due to an injury he sustained during pre-game training sessions.
While there have been some reports indicating that Achraf Hakimi and Noussair Mazraoui would miss the Sunday game, both players are now participating in the game. The two players sustained injuries during Morocco’s opening game against Croatia.
Morocco is facing Belgium on Sunday at the Al-Thumama stadium. The game is part of the second round of Group F in the Qatar World Cup.
Prior to the Sunday game, the Atlas Lions faced off against Croatia in their opening game at the World Cup. The game ended in a 0-0 draw, resulting in both teams earning one point.
