Rabat – Excitement ahead of Morocco’s World Cup quarterfinal against France has spilled beyond football, with businesses across the country promising free products, services, and special discounts if the Atlas Lions secure victory.

Social media has been flooded with promotional posts from Moroccan companies in recent days. Brands and small local businesses have offered rewards in the event of a Moroccan win.

Among the most talked-about offers is one from CIH Bank, which announced that customers’ bank accounts would be free for life if Morocco defeats France. The post quickly attracted widespread attention and thousands of interactions online.

Many smaller businesses have also joined the trend, promising free haircuts, meals, drinks, desserts, clothing, beauty services, and other products for a day if Morocco reaches the semifinals.

Genuine offers or trend-grabbing moves?

Many social media users questioned whether such promises would actually be honored.

Most of the announcements have been shared in the style of “breaking news” posts designed to grab attention and encourage engagement. Whether serious or simply part of the excitement surrounding the match, the offers have spread rapidly across Facebook, Instagram, and other social media platforms.

The trend reflects the optimism and national pride surrounding Morocco’s historic World Cup campaign, with fans hoping the Atlas Lions can eliminate another European powerhouse after already making another deep run in the tournament.

Morocco faces France tonight in one of the most anticipated matches of the World Cup quarterfinals.

Speaking before the game, head coach Mohamed Ouahbi said the match should not be compared to Morocco’s 2022 World Cup semifinal against France, insisting both teams have changed significantly.

He also stressed that reaching the quarterfinals is not enough for his squad. Ouahbi said he and the team are “not listening to those who say what we have already achieved is enough or that losing to France would be acceptable because they are favorites.”

Ouahbi added that the players must approach the match with the mindset of a team fighting for a place in the semifinals.

“The only real reward is winning the World Cup,” he said.
