Rabat – The Moroccan International Center for Artificial Intelligence, “AI movement,” at Morocco’s Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) will organize a conference on the occasion of the official inauguration of its new artificial intelligence building called “AI Dome.”
Titled “Ethical & Responsible Artificial Intelligence: Challenges & Opportunities for Africa,” the conference will take place between November 9 and 11 in the AI movement’s new offices in technopolis, featuring global experts from the AI industry.
The event seeks to “provide an overview of the current state of artificial intelligence globally, identify new challenges, and discuss emerging applications to meet the sustainable development goals of the African continent,” said the organizers in a press release.
In addition, the conference aims to serve as an opportunity to address the “ethical implications of artificial intelligence,” as well as a “forum to exchange ideas and establish south-south and south-north collaborations,” the statement indicated.
The event will include an award ceremony for the benefit of the top three projects of the hackathon “AI for Women’s Empowerment and Gender Equality,” which is organized by AI movement.
The statement highlighted UM6P’s position as “one of the pioneering African universities in the reflections and discussions with UNESCO on the use of AI as a lever for development in Africa.”

AI movement aspires to play a key role in “shaping the future of AI in Morocco,” as well as in the African continent, added the statement.
In July 2022, the center signed a partnership agreement with UNESCO, with the aim of developing a “cooperation focused on the co-implementation of capacity building projects in AI in Africa.”
