Rabat – French immigration services have denied a visa application from Moroccan rapper El Grande Toto. Because the Moroccan rapper was unable to get a visa, he likely will not be able to perform his concert scheduled for Thursday, August 11, which is part of the Semi Festival in Sete, France.
The Moroccan rapper’s entire European tour is now set to be canceled as he became another victim of France’s decision to limit the amount of Schengen visas it issues to Moroccans.
In a story posted on his official Instagram account, El Grande Toto stated that “having a visa today is like playing the lottery. It’s like a game of chance. I’m really getting tired of it.”

This is not the first time the rapper has been refused a visa. Last year, Egypt also refused to provide him a visa for an event because, according to Toto, of “his status as a rapper.”
As a result, the rapper expressed his anger, in a video posted in a “story” on his Instagram account, against a Moroccan employee at the Egyptian consulate that he holds responsible for the refusal of his visa application.
Toto further stated that this is not the first time he has encountered visa issues, after several bad experiences at French, British, and Belgian embassies.
Visa limitations, particularly from France, have caused a significant dilemma for Moroccans who travel between France and Morocco.
In September 2021, France decided to cut in half the number of visas provided to Moroccan, Tunisian, and Algerian people.
The measure was introduced after the European country accused the Maghreb countries of not facilitating the return of its citizens residing in France illegally.
