Rabat – Moad El-Hashi, a Moroccan truck driver living in Spain, made headlines in Spanish media when he risked his life to help three girls after their car caught on fire.

According to Spanish media, the three girls were driving on the Autovia A-7, a Spanish Mediterranean highway, on Tuesday, July 5 when smoke began drifting from their vehicle. Soon after they parked on the side of the road and exited the car, the vehicle caught on fire.

El-Hashi was driving by when he spotted the car, immediately pulling over to help the young women. After neutralizing the fire with a fire extinguisher, El-Hashi then went inside the car to retrieve the girls’ personal belongings, including important documents.

“When my daughter called me on the phone, I told her to get away from the car, that it could explode,” said the mother of one of the girls, who was struck by Al-Hashi’s act of heroism.

Several Spanish news outlets echoed the praise of the mother, who took to social media with a video detailing the bravery of El-Hashi. She wanted to commend the Moroccan man for risking his life to help the three young women.

Describing El-Hashi as a “guardian angel,” the mother said: “Thank you because you tried to put out the fire, you took things out of the car without having to, because they were material things, you paid attention to them.”

Stunned by El-Hashi’s courageous act, social media users in Spain commended the Moroccan man for the bravery and kindness he demonstrated.

The mother eventually managed to reach El-Hashi and his friend, Youssef Al-Sani, who also helped on the day of the incident. The Spanish woman extended her thanks and gratitude to the two Moroccan men, highlighting that “guardian angels can come from anywhere.”

Originally from the Moroccan city of Tangier, El-Hashi is a member of the Al-Boughaz Drivers’ Association, according to local reports.
