Rabat – It seems like Moroccan-French comedian Gad Elmaleh wanted to experience an outdoor activity outside of the city.

Exclusive photos shared with Morocco World News show the comedian enjoying trekking in Imlil Atlas Mountains near Marrakech.

A source told MWN that the comedian came from Marrakech for a one day hike in Imlil. Mohamed, a guide from the High Atlas Hiking, a local travel and exploration agency, accompanied the famous comedian, showing him around the scenic views and landscapes in the region.

The comedian arrived in Imlil on Saturday January 11 and hiked in the region for about 4 hours.

Elmaleh finished the trip with a tajine for lunch at Dar Imlil in the region before going back to Marrakech.

Gad ElMaleh takes every opportunity to speak about his love for Morocco and his hometown, Casablanca.

Elmaleh was born in Casablanca to a Jewish family but attended most of high school in Quebec. The comedian attended Lycee Lyautey in Casablanca for only one year before being expelled.

He performed comedy in France for over 23 years, becoming widely famous for his signature one-man shows where the gesticulations are as elaborate and meaningful as his amusing puns.

In a recent interview with French show, “Une ambition intime,”  Elmaleh spoke about his experiences and journeys in Casablanca.

Elmaleh also traveled with the host of the show, Karine Le Marchand,  who surprised him with a reunion with his Moroccan nany Fatema.

When he saw her, Elmaleh hugged her in tears while reminiscing about his memories in the country.

Although he has recently faced serious claims of plagiarism, some of which he acknowledged and apologized for in a heartfelt video message to his fans, the comedian continues to win over the hearts of fans who consider his style unique in francophone stand up comedy.

France’s Minister of Culture awarded El Maleh K with night of the Order of Arts and Letters. The comedian is also  a Knight of the National Order of Quebec.

Imlil’s Atlas Mountains still receive hundreds of local and international tourists despite the 2018 terror crime against two Scandinavian tourists.
