Rabat – The first edition of the continental comedy festival “Afrique du Rire” will take off on November 2, starting in Casablanca and criss crossing the main cities of the African continent until December 15.
After the inaugural show in the Moroccan metropolis, African comedians will bring laughter to Marrakech, Tangier, Rabat, Fez, Dakhla, Ouagadougou, Abidjan, Dakar, and Libreville, with an aim to promote intercontinental exchange, said the organizers in a press conference held on Monday in Casablanca.
The festival aims to reach the widest Francophone audience in the visited African countries, with “affordable” prices, while guaranteeing that the participating artists will enjoy a new professional experience “out of the ordinary.”
According to the organizers, this tour will bring viewers to the heart of the daily life, hopes, and dreams of African women and men all over the world. The 27 committed comedians will also address the contemporary issues of African society, with the appropriate dose of humor and tact.
The tour will be enhanced by the presence of renowned artists such as Oualas (Morocco), Michel Gouhou (Ivory Coast), Mamane (Niger), Phill Darwin (Republic of Congo), Eko (Morocco), Yass (Senegal), Amine Radi (Morocco), Jöel (Cote d’Ivoire), Omar Defunzu (Gabon), and Samia Oroseman (Tunisia).
Beyond comedy shows, ‘Afrique du Rire’ will include social activities and visits to tourist sites sponsored by the artists embarked on the adventure.
