Taroudant- Morocco ranks fourth in the Arab world in terms of prosperity and well -being, according to the 2013Prosperity Index published by Legatum Institute.
Morocco comes in fourth place of the most prosperous Arab countries, according to the criteria established by the Legatum Institute, based in London.
The ranking takes into account several factors, including economic performance, governance , entrepreneurship, business opportunities, education, the fight against corruption, health, personal freedom, safety and security, as well as social capital.
The United Arab Emirates comes first in the Arab world, followed by Kuwait and Saudi Arabia, while Jordan ranks fifth ahead of Tunisia, Algeria and Egypt.
Globally, Morocco occupies the 82nd position from a list of 142 countries. The United Arab Emirates, which ranks 28th at the global level, ranks first in the Arab region ahead of Kuwait ( 33th ), Saudi Arabia ( 50th) , Jordan ( 88th ), Tunisia (91 ), Algeria ( 99th ), Egypt ( 108th ) and Mauritania (125).
Norway topped the world rankings for the fifth consecutive year, followed by Switzerland (2nd ), Canada ( 3rd) , Sweden ( 4th) , New Zealand (5th ) and Denmark (6th ). The United States (11th ) and United Kingdom (16th ), which have been shaken by the economic crisis, lost four and two positions respectively in the new world rankings.
