“Production on the final season of House of Cards is suspended until further notice,” wrote Netflix. In a second tweet, the streaming service added that the show’s suspension “will give us time to review the current situation with our producing partners at MRC,” referring to the sexual assault allegations against Spacey.

According to Netflix, its “execs are on set this week discussing with our cast and crew. More details to come.”

Spacey was accused of making a “sexual” advance towards Rapp in 1986, when the Star Trek: Discovery star was only 14 years old.

In an interview with BuzzFeed, Rapp claimed that Spacey attempted to assault him after a party held at the apartment ofthe American Beauty star. It was at the end of the party, Rapp said  Spacey “picked [him] up, placed [him] on his bed, and climbed on top of [him].”

During the interview, Rapp said that when he sees Spacey now, his “stomach churns.”

“I still to this day can’t wrap my head around so many aspects of it. It’s just deeply confusing to me,” the 46-year old actor told BuzzFeed.

In response to the allegations made against him, Spacey said that he does not remember the encounter with the young actor.

“I honestly do not remember the encounter, it would have been 30 years ago,” wrote the 58-year-old House of Cards star on Twitter.

“If I did behave then as he describes, I owe him the sincerest apology for what would have been deeply inappropriate drunken behavior, and I am sorry for the feelings he describes having carried with him all these years.”

In the same post, Spacey came out as gay, saying that “I know that there are stories out there about me and that some have been fueled by the fact that I have been so protective of my privacy. […] I have loved and had romantic encounters with men throughout my life, and I choose now to live as a gay man.”

Spacey concluded by writing that he “wants to deal with this honestly and openly and that starts with examining [his] own behavior.”

The actor’s tweet sparked outrage among social media users, who accused him of redirecting attention away from the alleged assault and of conflating pedophilia and homosexuality.
