Maitre Gims Expresses Gratitude to King Mohammed VI Before His Marrakech’s Concert

Rabat – French-Congolese rapper Gandhi Djuna, commonly known as Maitre Gims has once again expressed his love toward Morocco during his free concert in Marrakech, which he dedicated to his Moroccan fans.

On Friday, the singer hit the stage of Marrakech’s Jemaa El Fna square. An habitué of Morocco, where he has a large fan base, the famous rapper has once again featured the Moroccan national anthem during his concert, showing his deep respect to Morocco.

Thousands of fans attended Friday’s concert in Jemaa El Fna square, where the rapper performed his most famous songs. In a statement to the press shortly before the beginning of his concert, the rapper expressed his gratitude to King Mohammed VI “who facilitated access to this mythical place, which make this meeting with the public possible,” he said.

Maitre Gims also recalled his meetings with King Mohammed VI. “I met with King Mohammed VI several times, in Morocco, in France, Gabon and Cote d’Ivoire, and I learned that the King is aware of my style of music and is very proud that I choose Morocco as a residence.”

Speaking about the concert, the star added that it is very important for him that this concert was access free so everyone would have fun. “I would like to repeat such events in Morocco and elsewhere.”

He added that “he would be happy to repeat this concert and program it every year maybe but with different artists.”

In his former concert in Agadir’s  Concert Pour La Tolerance, which was held on October 14, the singer talked about his special relationship with King Mohammed VI.

“The King of Morocco has become a friend, someone who is close to me, someone who helped me a lot and who has presented Morocco to me in a different angle,” he said.

“He showed me that I’m most welcome here. We met several times. He calls me often. He’s someone I’d like to honor,” explained the French singer.
