Travelers on the Al Boraq high-speed train will get a free return ticket if returning after sunset on the same day.
The Moroccan National Railway Office (ONCF) has announced a special Ramadan promotion on ticket prices, as well as a slightly modified timetable for the holy month.
Travelers on the Casablanca – Tangier Al Boraq line (the high-speed train) will get their return ticket for free, provided the return is on the same day as the departure, and after sunset.
This is designed to facilitate travel for people wanting to see their family or friends specifically for “ftour,” the meal eaten at sunset to break the Ramadan fast.
On the Casablanca-Rabat-Kenitra “TNR” line, trains will continue to run every 30 minutes between Casablanca Port and Rabat, from Monday to Friday from 6.20am to 6.00pm. A night service will run between 8.25pm and 9.25pm. On this line, trains will stop at Temara train station every 30 minutes during peak hours.
Between Marrakech and Fes, the Al Atlas train will run every two hours from 6.00am to 6.00pm.
The ONCF press release also stated that between Fes and Casablanca there will also be trains running hourly from 7.30am to 3.30pm.
The timetables of the other train lines will be modified to respond to the needs of those who travel during Ramadan. The press release did not provide any details on these expected changes.
