Rabat – US Secretary of State Michael Pompeo arrived in Morocco today, November 5, for an official visit. Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Nasser Bourita and Charge d’affaires at the US Embassy in Rabat David Green greeted Pompeo at the airport.
The visit confirms the strong relations between the US and Morocco and reflects a commitment to further develop the partnership between Washington and Rabat.
Secretary Pompeo first met with Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita in Rabat.

Secretary Pompeo and Green then held meetings with Head of Government Saadeddine El Othmani in the presence of the minister of foreign affairs and the Minister of State Mustapha Ramid.
Another meeting joined Secretary Pompeo and Morocco’s Internal Security Chief Abdellatif Hammouchi.
Pompeo departed Morocco shortly after wrapping up his meetings.
Before landing in Morocco, Secretary Pompeo lauded Morocco as one of the strongest partners of the US in the region. He expressed his willingness to review the strong economic and security partnership between the two countries and to discuss future areas of cooperation.
