Fez – Morocco’s Ministry of Health has initiated a nationwide effort to combat seasonal flu. In a statement on November 25, the ministry emphasized the need to spread awareness about the value of seasonal flu vaccines to reduce the virus’s dangers and problems, particularly among people who are fragile to catching the flu and its complications.
The ministry has themed this year’s seasonal flu vaccination campaign as “Against Seasonal Flu… Fortify One’s Immunity and Protect Oneself.”
The statement highlighted the launch of the campaign at the start of winter, in a period when the influenza virus spreads more easily. The ministry also pointed out the weight of the campaign in unprecedented health in a situation marked by the spread of the COVID pandemic.

In its statement, the ministry did not rule out “the possibility of seasonal influenza virus and COVID-19 spreading together.”
“Seasonal flu is an acute viral infection” that affects “the respiratory tract,” highlighted the statement, adding that it is a “seasonal epidemic” that spreads throughout the fall and winter.
The seasonal disease, however, “may lead to significant complications and even death,” according to the ministry. Pregnant women, children under the age of five, the elderly, and persons with chronic conditions are the most vulnerable groups in this regard.
The Ministry of Health urged people at high risk of contracting the flu or its complications to get vaccinated against the flu vaccine.
The Ministry emphasized the importance of maintaining precautionary measures, such as proper mask use, handwashing with soap and water, and physical separation. This serves as a reminder for measures that will enable both seasonal flu and emergent Covid-19 prevention.
