Rabat –  Government representatives from several Arab countries spoke at the 4th Congress of the Arab Parliament and Speakers of Arab Assemblies and Parliaments on the need to strengthen Arab solidarity and reinforce efforts to tackle the region’s challenges.

During the closure of the Arab Parliament’s 4th Congress, which took place on February 19 in Cairo, the preparatory committee unanimously approved a document entitled “A Parliamentary Vision to Ensure Security and Stability and Advance the Current Arab Reality.”

The document, which will be submitted to Arab leaders during the next Arab Summit, highlights the common challenges and crises facing the Arab countries, with the Palestinian cause as the first Arab cause.

The document also emphasizes the Arab position regarding crises and conflicts in the Arab world, including the Yemeni, Libyan, Syrian, Sudanese, Somali and Lebanese crises.

The draft also draws attention to its full support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, the establishment of an independent Palestinian State with Al-Quds as its capital.

It further stresses the need to adopt a comprehensive approach to combat terrorism and extremist ideology and to confront foreign interference in regional affairs.

The document also refers to nuclear security in the region, water and food security, climate crisis, Arab youth empowerment, and the promotion of human rights in the Arab world.

Moroccan parliamentarians from the house of councilors also attended the meeting. The parliamentary delegation includes Mohamed Hanine, First Vice Speaker of the House, and Touria Lahmam, general advisor in charge of parliamentary diplomacy.

Morocco has long expressed its commitment to regional efforts aimed at fighting shared crises and maintaining regional stability. In 2021, the country announced a $1 million donation to help tackle the humanitarian crisis in Yemen.

Morocco has also long expressed an unwavering support for the Palestinian cause, aiming to promote a lasting peace in the Middle East.
