Rabat – Samir Machour, a Moroccan scientist based in the Republic of Korea, has donated $40,000 to Mason Korea to help students pursue their education.
The funds will be used to create the “Sam Machour Scholarship Endowment” program to provide students at Mason Korea with the financial support needed to continue their studies.
“I hope for many in the future to show that we can all do great by doing good and that giving back to society and to our communities is not just an idea or an ideal but a moral duty for those that can support others to succeed,” Machour said.
Mason Korea honored the Moroccan scientist in a ceremony for his commitment to strengthening quality education and research, lifelong learning, and giving back to the community, George Mason University Korea said in a press release on March 27.

Machour is the Executive Vice President and Chief Quality Officer at Samsung Biologics and Vice Chair of Mason Korea’s advisory board.
The renowned scientist highlighted the importance of “helping others to dream, to compete, to have better health and education.”
“There are no better rewards than seeing what your help can produce,” he added.
Mason Korea Campus Dean Robert Matz welcomed Machour’s commitment and engagement to the university’s advisory board, stressing, “[Machour] invests in the future by investing in people.”
While in an executive management program at Harvard, Machour founded “Executives Without Borders,” an NGO dedicated to engaging business professionals in solving the world’s humanitarian challenges.
The Harvard graduate now serves on the advisory board of Bring Hope, a non-profit that seeks to improve the lives of displaced people living in refugee camps.
The Moroccan expert also works in collaboration with Partnership for African Vaccine Manufacturing (PAVM) to provide COVID-19 vaccines to African countries.
Born in Rabat, Machour earned his high school diploma in 1980 in Azrou, near Fez, before flying to Canada for higher education. He earned a Master of Science in nuclear physics from Concordia University in Montreal, Quebec.
The Moroccan scientist also graduated from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government in Cambridge, the US, and participated in several programs at the Harvard Business School.
