Rabat – Morocco’s National Rally of Independents (RNI) held its seventh conference over March 4-5, with the presence of over 2800 attendees, under the theme “Pathway to Trust.”
After gaining the trust of the Moroccan people by winning the election, the conference was an occasion to discuss future challenges, with a special focus on how the party can contribute to building a strong national social state, according to the party’s official statement.
After deliberating on a number of projects and reports, the conference then reelected Aziz Akhannouch as president of the National Rally of Independents. His reelection at the helm of the party is a testament of the party’s confidence in Akhannouch’s sane leadership, argues the statement.
During the conference, attendees discussed the challenging international context underpinning the COVID-19 related economic and social crisis, disrupting the world order and giving rise to a new geopolitical landscape, explains the statement.
Speaking on the international context, the conference invoked the Ukraine crisis and backed Morocco’s position on the importance of settling disputes between nations without resulting in armed conflicts, the statement points out.
The conference equally shed light on the diplomatic gains Morocco garnered in relation to the Western Sahara conflict.
On the national level, the conference recalled the political gains of the party, as the National Rally of Independents won the last general elections with a landslide win, reflecting the party’s popularity as voter participation reached an all-time high record of over 50%, argues the statement.
Over the two-day event, party members stressed their commitment to work diligently to overcome national challenges through a new roadmap that Akhannouch presented during the conference, the statement indicates.
The conference touched on a wide range of other issues pertaining to protecting national purchasing power by boosting government subsidies, supporting citizens and businesses to navigate the economic fallout of the pandemic, and mitigating the burden of social inequality, concludes the statement.
