Rabat – King Mohamed VI has sent a message of condolences to the American President Joe Biden after a mass shooting in Uvalde, Texas, which took the lives of 19 children and 2 adults on Tuesday.
In his letter to Biden, the king expressed “condolences and sincere compassion” for the families of the victims, the president, and the American people at large.
He also expressed well wishes for those who were injured and hoped that the victims’ families would recover from the shock soon.
On Tuesday, 18 year old Salvador Ramos shot his grandmother, severely wounding her, before making his way to Robb Elementary Primary School, where he killed 19 students and 2 teachers, in addition to wounding 17 others.
The shooting shook the US as it became the third deadliest school shooting in the country’s history, after the 2007 Virginia Tech shooting, and 2012’s Sandy Hook.
It is the deadliest school shooting in the history of Texas.
The mass murder has again revived the old debate over gun control in the country, with some fruitlessly continuing to advocate for a ban on assault weapons all over the country.
Other world leaders such as Boris Johnson, Pope Francis, and Justin Trudeau also condemned the shooting and expressed their condolences.
