Rabat – Pakistan’s Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony announced Wednesday that the country’s Eid Al Adha 2022 celebration will take place on Sunday, July 10.
Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee – Pakistan’s moon-sighting committee – announced yesterday evening that the Dhu Al Hijjah crescent moon had not been sighted in the country, signaling that the first day of Dhu Al Hijjah will be Friday, July 1.
Chairman of the Committee Maulana Syed Abdul Khabir Azad said in a press conference that the committee did not observe the crescent moon or receive any testimonies confirming the sighting of the Dhu Al Hijjah moon in the country.

Dhu Al Hijjah is the 12th and last month of the Islamic calendar. Also known as the Hijri or lunar calendar, the Islamic calendar is based on 12 lunar months.
Each month lasts for one complete moon cycle, varying from 29 to 30 days depending on the sighting of the crescent moon.
The Islamic month of Dhu Al Hijjah marks the Eid Al Adha holiday, the feast of sacrifice. It is celebrated on the 10th day of Dhu Al Hijjah.
The Eid Al Adha celebration enjoys a special significance among Muslims. It commemorates the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son Ismail at Allah’s command.
The holy event also marks the annual pilgrimage to Mecca and Madinah – Hajj, the fifth pillar of Islam.
Similar to Pakistan, Morocco will celebrate Eid Al Adha on July 10, the country’s Ministry of Islamic Affairs announced yesterday. Saudi Arabia, however, will celebrate Eid Al Adha a day earlier on July 9.
Eid Al Adha is traditionally celebrated through animal sacrifice, typically sheep. Worshippers then share the meat among their family and loved ones and donate it to the poor.
