Rabat – Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch is set to represent Morocco in the upcoming Davos summit taking place in Switzerland between January 16 – 20.

Akhannouch is scheduled to deliver a special address on the third day of the global summit, before the German Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s speech, according to the World Economic Forum, the organizing institution of the event.

Held under the theme “Cooperation in a Fragmented World,” Davos is an annual meeting that brings together a selection of global businesses, governments, civil society, media, and academia to deliberate on major challenges facing today’s economy.

Davos 2023 “will provide a platform to engage in constructive, forward-looking dialogues and help find solutions through public-private cooperation,” the organizing body wrote.

The Davos meetings are also famous for the “networking and socializing that goes on in the corridors, side rooms, hotel suites, and restaurants of the Alpine town,” a report from consultancy company McKinsey indicated.

The summit invites around 2,500 delegates and hundreds of others who flock to the same town during the event. It is said to be the largest annual gathering of global policymakers.

This year’s meeting is set to highlight a number of pressing issues including best practices for public-private cooperation on climate mitigation efforts, as well as the rising concern over global food security.
