Rabat – Morocco’s state-owned phosphate giant OCP Group and the Ministry of Solidarity, Social Integration, and Family signed this week a framework partnership agreement focusing on six areas of collaboration to foster inclusive and sustainable development.

The agreement was signed by Morocco’s Minister of Solidarity, Social Integration, and Family Awatif Hayar and UM6P’s President Hicham El Habti on May 23 in the Moroccan city of Benguerir.

Under the agreement, the two parties pledged to develop social welfare institutions located on OCP Group’s business sites. They will also support the development of 40 pilot social welfare institutions and digitize the management processes of three institutions.

Another crucial aspect of the collaboration is the promotion of solar energy to reduce electricity consumption expenses and enhance access to hot water for residents of social welfare institutions. This sustainable energy initiative aligns with Morocco’s commitment to environmental responsibility and showcases OCP Group’s dedication to corporate social responsibility.

The partnership also focuses on empowering women through the Ministry’s program “Marcoc Attamkine Wariyada” for women’s empowerment, entrepreneurship, and leadership.

Additionally, the agreement highlights the importance of applied research and innovation, the two parties said, pledging to establish an applied research fund dedicated to developing innovative solutions for pertinent social issues.

Speaking about the collaboration on the sidelines of the signing ceremony, Hayar said, “This agreement symbolizes the close collaboration between the Ministry of Solidarity, Social Integration and Family and OCP Group, reflecting our mutual commitment to work together for inclusive and sustainable social development, and the encouragement of the entrepreneurial spirit within families.”

Hayar emphasized the significance of the partnership with OCP Group, as it will expedite the implementation of the Ministry’s 2021-2026 strategy known as Green Inclusive Smart Social Regeneration (GISSR).

The strategy prioritizes social development, inclusiveness, innovation, and sustainability.

UM6P’s president reaffirmed OCP Group’s commitment to the program, while highlighting UM6P’s willingness to assist the Ministry’s projects and initiatives through its specialized laboratories focused on social issues, such as the “Social Innovation Lab (SIL)” and the “CoopLab.”.

The partnership between the Ministry and OCP Group represents a significant milestone in Morocco’s pursuit of inclusive and sustainable social development. By combining their resources, expertise, and innovative approaches, both parties vowed to make a tangible and positive impact on society.
