Rabat – Morocco’s national electronic football team has qualified for the second consecutive year to the FIFAe Nations Series World Cup.
The Moroccan team ensured qualification thanks to its aggregate victory against the South African team in the final’s home and away matches.
Morocco lost in the first leg against South Africa (1-5) before achieving a remarkable 6-0 remontada in the second leg.
To reach the final, the Moroccan team defeated the Oman team in the semi-finals on penalty shootouts.
Meanwhile, the Moroccan e-football team was also crowned champion of the MENA region, after beating Qatar and South Africa.
According to a statement from the Royal Moroccan Federation of Electronic Games (FRMJE), the Moroccan delegation, which played this competition in Abu Dhabi, is made up of manager Saad Bassi and four players: Adam Haberraih, Youssef Charif, Marwan Chahhou, and Aymane Mokalik.
The delegation was chaired by Idriss Malki, technical manager of e-football at the FRMJE and Omar Zniber, the logistics manager.
Last year was the first time for the Moroccan team to qualify for the eFootball World Cup that was played in Copenhagen, Denmark.
Their qualification came after a 1-0 victory in the first leg during the playoffs to the FIFAe Nations Series 2022 against Kazakhstan and a 2-2 draw in the second leg.
