Rabat – In an inspiring three-day endeavor, Chinese technology giant Huawei, in collaboration with the Moroccan Ministry of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform, concluded its Women in Tech training program on Wednesday, June 14 in Rabat.

More than 30 ambitious women from Morocco’s public sector immersed themselves in an intensive training experience that aimed to inspire change in Morocco’s technology sector by driving women’s leadership and fostering innovation.

Morocco World News spoke with one of the trainers, Mohamed Najem from Lebanon, who shared his experience working closely with the 40 talented Moroccan women during Huawei’s Women in Tech event.

The trainer, who works as an agility coach at Wemanity Group, described the experience as “successful” and “inspiring,” celebrating the exceptional capabilities that the participants demonstrated.

Throughout the training, Najem discovered that the participants possessed remarkable agility and passion, as well as a strong drive for innovation. With his help, they were able to overcome various challenges and bring forward several groundbreaking ideas.

He explained that the existing framework did not adequately support the women’s agility and hindered their progress. This has stressed the need for a framework that would facilitate their success and allow them to thrive and contribute to advancing technology and society as a whole.

Najem, who led an engaging six-hour-long training session with the participants on Wednesday, praised the women’s ability to adapt quickly and effectively to new situations, and said he was captivated by their energy and passion for their work.

Moroccan women’s potential

For their part, the participants stressed that the training program helped them acquire valuable insight and knowledge of emerging technologies and strengthen their problem-solving and innovation abilities.

“This training has been extremely valuable for me as someone involved in project design … it provided a wealth of information on how to adapt to different situations and effectively engage stakeholders in projects, including users and project designers,” Touria Nabil, one of the participants, told MWN.

Nabil expressed her gratitude for the valuable training provided by Huawei, stressing that it has unveiled alternative perspectives and actions for successfully completing projects.

With the ever-changing technological landscape, staying updated on new technologies is crucial, she added, concluding that the initiative equipped women with knowledge to tailor techniques to suit the needs of their roles.

Karima Ilarzeg, another participant, echoed Nabil’s statement, emphasizing the significance of the program in fostering better decision-making and effective management, both in professional and personal spheres.

She added that the training helped equip participants with the necessary tools to adapt to technological advancements and become successful leaders.

“Since these technologies are constantly evolving, with new software emerging and others becoming obsolete, it is crucial for us to stay updated,” she explained. “To navigate these changes successfully, we need to develop soft skills, including behavioral and emotional intelligence.”

On the first day of the event, the participants received training in Change Management by Loubna El Oudghiri, with a virtual visit to the Huawei showroom in China.

During the second and third days, the participants received training in Design Thinking and Agile Method Basics by Leadership Consultant and Executive Coach Yasser Mounkachi, as well as Najem Mohamed.

Monkachi took to Linkedin to praise the participants’ ability to “interact, co-learn, and keep up with current technological and methodological developments.”

The Women in Tech event not only provided a platform for skill development but also highlighted the immense potential of women in the technology sector. In addition, it served as a testament to the need to empower women and nurture their innovative capabilities.

“It is an honor for me and for my country, which firmly believes in the principles of equality and encourages the inclusion of gender in education and digital inclusion, to be present among you for the launch of the second session of Women in Tech,” said Chief Brand Officer of Huawei Morocco Nabil Ouchagour during the opening of the event.

The event, which is part of Huawei’s “Tech for Her, Tech by Her, and Tech with Her” program, concluded on a positive note, with participants feeling privileged to have worked with the trainers and acquired valuable skills.

The training program is part of an agreement that Huawei and the Moroccan Ministry of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform signed during the first edition Digitech Ecosystem Summit in July 2022.
