At GITEX Africa, Cybersecurity firm Kaspersky shared its vision and commitment towards contributing to addressing cybercrimes in Africa, as countries on the continent place an increased focus on digitization in recent years.
General Manager of Kaspersky France Bertrand Trasour said the company aims to provide individuals and businesses across Africa with substantial and effective security tools to combat the persistent threats that have emerged as a result of Africa’s recent phase of digitalization.
The company’s goal is to provide individuals and businesses across the African continent with substantial cybersecurity solutions, Trasour said, noting that cybersecurity threats have emerged as a result of Africa’s recent digitalization.
Trasour also pointed to how the firm helps its clients construct a strong defense against cyber-attacks by providing them with a number of cybersecurity systems from which to pick.
The systems may vary anywhere from product endpoint protection to direct intelligence, he noted, stressing that the company has been essential in the fight against various cybersecurity threats for almost a decade.
Kaspersky’s efforts also include the development of artificial intelligence tools incorporated into their cybersecurity systems to assist clients who often seek sophisticated protection measures.
Extensive solutions variety
According to Trasour, Kaspersky is “one of the leaders of cybersecurity worldwide,” and as such, the company has an exceptional collection of technologies that are able to accommodate the requirements of a variety of clients.
Trasour highlighted the company’s endpoint detection and response (EDR) technology that primarily focuses on identifying highly sophisticated threats.
In addition to this, the cybersecurity firm employs an extended discovery and reaction (XDR) technology, which is designed to speed up the discovery of threats, enhance transparency, and increase reaction time.
The technology lends a hand to security teams in the identification of threats that could otherwise go undetected if such teams depended just on individual precautions.
According to Trasour, these technologies can be of use to various kinds of customers, whether it is individuals, businesses, or governments trying to protect against all kinds of conceivable threats.
“It’s something really strategic to anticipate these threats and of course we have the technologies to do some projects about cybersecurity for industry,” the official said.Kaspersky is also dedicated to solving the particular cybersecurity problems facing industrial systems in Africa.
Trasour particularly mentioned how the company has developed Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools to provide better security for its clients in business and industry, especially as the Internet of Things and Industry 4.0 take off in Africa.
“One of the challenges of [sustainability] is how to secure the industry, how to secure the power plant, how to secure all the systems we can use in the industry,” he said, adding that Kaspersky has been able to respond to such challenges. Catering to customers’ needs
As part of its plan to adequately satisfy the expectations of its customers, Kaspersky also relies on B2B (Business to Business) programs to provide companies with the specific solutions they demand.
Trasour drew attention to some of the specific projects the company has worked on to provide specialized solutions, such as technologies dedicated to securing telecommunication company routers that can also “provide more security at home.”
GITEX Africa, the first international venture of the GITEX conference, was held in Marrakech between May 31 and June 2. The event convened hundreds of companies from over a hundred countries to discuss the avenues for digitization in Morocco and Africa.
