Rabat – The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) president, Fouzi Lekjaa, met on June 19 with the players and technical staff of the women’s national football team at the Mohammed VI Football Complex in the city of Sale near Rabat.
The meeting came prior to the FIFA World Cup that will take place from July 20 to August 20, in Australia and New Zealand, where the Atlas Lionesses will compete for the first time.
Fouzi Lekjaa stressed that Moroccan fans are eager to see the national team honor the flag’s colors and deliver an excellent performance.
The FRMF president has called on the Atlas Lionesses to perform at a high technical level.
Today, the national team will fly to Austria for a training camp and play two friendly matches against Italy and Switzerland, before heading to Australia for a final friendly match against the Jamaican national team.
As a preparation for the upcoming women African cup of nations (WAFCON), the Moroccan team will play the first friendly match against Italy on July 1.
The second friendly game will be scheduled against Switzerland on July 5, while the third friendly will be against Jamaica on July 16, according to a statement by FRMF.
The Atlas Lionesses played two friendly games in April against Czech and Romania, to whom they lost 2-0 and 1-0 respectively.
At the 2023 World Cup, the national team will play in Group H alongside Germany, South Korea, and Colombia.
