Rabat – Morocco’s General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) announced on Saturday that it has taken a series of disciplinary sanctions and performance evaluation measures against police officials working at the Royal Police Institute.
The actions come after the General Inspectorate of National Security conducted a thorough investigation into the management of the institute and its affiliated schools, following the instructions of the Director-General of National Security.
According to a report from Morocco’s Press Agency (MAP), the investigation revealed numerous instances of dysfunctions, professional abuses, and individual behaviors that violated the standards of security governance and professional ethics within the police force.
As a result, the DGSN has taken several disciplinary measures. The Director of the Royal Police Institute has been temporarily suspended pending his appearance before the disciplinary board, which will thoroughly review the allegations against him.
The MAP report also mentioned that two other officials, a brigadier, and a police inspector, have faced similar temporary suspensions.
A police officer has also received a reprimand, and three employees of the institution, including two commissioners and a police inspector, have been issued warnings.
The individuals will be reassigned to positions outside of police training institutions as a consequence of their actions.
DGSN has equally sent observation letters to three police executives found guilty of negligence in performing their duties. The group includes a divisional commissioner, a senior peace officer, and a peacekeeper. A divisional peace commander has been dismissed from his position and transferred away from the Royal Police Institute.
The results of the investigation conducted by the General Inspectorate have led to the implementation of performance evaluation measures.
